A particle moves in the direction of east for 2s with velocity of `15 ms^(-1).` Then it moves towards north for 8s with a a velocity of `5 ms^(-1).` The average velocity of the particle is

A

B

5

C

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The correct Answer is:
B

Displacement towards east, x = 15 `xx` 2 = 30 m
Displacement towards north, y = 5 `xx` 8 = 40 m
Displacement in 10 sec =`sqrt(x^2 +y^2) = sqrt((30)^2 + ( 40)^2) = 50 m`
Average velocity `=(50)/(10) =5 ms^(-1)`
