When air plane fly at higher altitude it is not right to keep a fountain pen in a pocket.

Text Solution

As the altitude increases pressure decreases . The ink in the refil of pen is filled at atmospheric pressure . When air plane fly up the atmospheric pressure on the ink decreases and hence ink comes out on cloth .Hence , when the air plane fly up , it is not right to keep a fountain pen in a pocket .

Photograph of the ground are taken form an air-craft ,flying at an altitude of 2000 m by a camera with a lens of focal length 50 cm . The size of the film in the camera is 18xx18cm .What area of the ground can be photography by this camera at any one time.

In an experiment to determine the focal length (f) of a concave mirror by the u-v method, a student places the object pin A on the principal axis at a distance x from the pole P. The student looks at the pin and its inverted image from a distance keeping his/her eye in line with PA. When the student shifts his/her eye towards left, the image appears to the right of the object pin. Then,

A cylindrical solid of mass 10^(-2) kg and cross-sectional area 10^(-4) m^(2) is moving parallel to its axis (the x-axis ) with a uniform speed of 10^(3) m//s in the positive direction. At t = 0 , its front face passes the plane x = 0 . The region to the right of htis plane is filled with the dust particle of uniform density 10^(-3) kg/m^(3) . When a dust particles collides with the face of the cylinder, it stricks to its surface. Assuming that the dimensions of the cylinder remain parctically unchanged adn that the dust sticks only to the front face of the cylinder find the x-coordinate of the front of th ecylinder at t = 150 s .

A 20cm thick glass slab of refractive index 1.5 is kept in front of a plane mirror. Find the position of the image (relative to mirror) as seen by an observer through the glass slab when a point object is kept in air at a distance of 40 cm from the mirror.

A large , heavy box is sliding without friction down a smooth plane of inclination theta . From a point P on the bottom of the box , a particle is projected inside the box . The initial speed of the particle with respect to the box is u , and the direction of projection makes an angle alpha with the bottom as shown in Figure . (a) Find the distance along the bottom of the box between the point of projection p and the point Q where the particle lands . ( Assume that the particle does not hit any other surface of the box . Neglect air resistance .) (b) If the horizontal displacement of the particle as seen by an observer on the ground is zero , find the speed of the box with respect to the ground at the instant when particle was projected .

Two identical balls A and B each of mass 0.1 kg are attached to two identical mass less is springs. The spring-mass system is constrained to move inside a right smooth pipe bent in the form of a circle as shown in figure . The pipe is fixed in a horizontal plane. The center of the balls can move in a circle of radius 0.06 m . Each spring has a natural length of 0.06 pi m and force constant 0.1 N//m . Initially, both the balls are displaced by an angle theta = pi//6 radians with respect to diameter PQ of the circle and released from rest. a. Calculate the frequency of oscillation of the ball B. b. What is the total energy of the system ? c. Find the speed of the ball A when A and B are at the two ends of the diameter PQ.
