A stuntman plans to run across a roof top and then horizontally off it to land on the roof of next bulding. The roof of the next building is 4.9 metre below the first one and 6.2 metre away from it. What should be his minimum roof top speed in m/s. so that he can successfully make the jump?

Consider one mole of perfect gas in a cylinder of unit cross section with a piston attached as shown in figure. A spring (spring constant k) is attached (unstretched length L ) to the piston and to the bottom of the cylinder. Initially the spring is unstretched and the gas is in equilibrium. A certain amount of heat Q is supplied to the gas causing an increase of value from V_0 to V_1 . (a) What is the initial pressure of the system ? (b) What is the final pressure of the system ? (c) Using the first law of thermodynamics, write down a relation between Q, P_a , V, V_0 and k.

One day in the morning, Ramesh filled up 1/3 bucket of hot water from geyser, to take bath. Remaining 2/3 was to be filled by cold water (at room temperature) to bring mixture to a comfortable temperature. Suddenly Ramesh had to attend to something which would take take some times, say 5-10 minutes before he could take bath. Now he had two options : (1) fill the remaining bucket completely by cold water and then attend to the cork, (2) first attend to the work and fill the remaining bucket just before taking bath. Which option do you think would have kept water warmer ? Explain.

As shown in the figure, initially both th springs are in normal length (L_(0)) . At t=0, the block is given a rightward velocity v_(0)=2 m//s . The mass of the block is (14//3)kg . How much distance does th block cover before it comes to rest for the first time? (The spring constant of the left spring is K_(0)=2N//m and that of the right spring is not constant and varies as k=k_(0)x , where x is the compression in the spring)

Verify the Ampere's law for magnetic field of a point dipole of dipole moment overset(to)(M) = M hat(k) . Take C as the closed curve running clockwise along (i) the z-axis from z=a gt 0 to z= R, (ii) along the quarter circle of radius R and centre at the origin, in the first quadrant of x-z plane, (iii) along the x-axis from x = R to x = a and (iv) along the quarter circle of radius a and centre at the origin in the first quadrant of x-z plane.
