Detergents is added to water for removing dirt from clothes.Explain .

When detergents added to the water , surface tension of water decreased and hence clothes wet more .Although ,molecules of detergent are hairpin shaped ,it tending to form water oil (dirt) interfaces and separating dirt so clothes washes better .
