A hollow sphere filled with water and one small hole at bottom is hung by a long thread and made to oscillates. The effect on the period of oscillation as water slowly flows out of the hole at bottom………

A

decreases continuously

B

increases continuoulsy

C

first decrease and then becomes equal to its original value

D

first increases and then becomes equal to its original value

Text Solution

The correct Answer is:
D

When the hollow sphere filled with water, its centre of gravity is at mid-point and hence as the water flow out from a hole, its length increases, so according to `T propto sqrt(l)`, period of oscillation increases. But it completely emply, its centre of gravity coming at midpoint and its period of oscillation becomes as to original period of oscillation.

Two small orifice of cross-sectional area a are made, one at the bottom and the other on the vertical side of the container at a distance H/2 from the top of the container find the time taken by the water level to reach a height of H/2 from the bottom of the container.

A vessel is in the form of an inverted cone. Its height is 8 cm and radius of its top, which is open, is 5 cm. It is filled with water upto the brim. When lead shots, each of which is a sphere of radius 0.5 cm are dropped into the vessel, one fourth of the water flows out. Find the number of lead shots dropped in the vessel.

A wide vessel with small hole in the bottom is filled with water and kerosence, Neglecting viscosity, the velocity of water flow v, if the thickness of water laer is H_(1) and that of kerosene layer is H_(2) is (density of water P_(1)g//cc and that of kerosene is P_(2)g//cc .

A square box of water has a small hole located the bottom corners. When the box is full and sitting on a level surface, complete opening of the hole results in a flow of water with a speed v_(0) as shown in Fig. (a). when the box is still half empty, it is tilted by 45^@ so that hole is at the lowest point. Now the water will flow out with a speed of

A cylindrical vessel of height 500mm has an orifice (small hole) at its bottom. The orifice is initially closed and water is filled in it up to height H. Now the top is completely sealed with a cap and the orifice at the bottom is opened. Some water comes out from the orifice and the water level in the vessel becomes steady with height of water column being 200mm. Find the fall in height(in mm) of water level due to opening of the orifice. [Take atmospheric pressure =1.0xx10^5N//m^2 , density of water=1000kg//m^3 and g=10m//s^2 . Neglect any effect of surface tension.]

A tank is filled with a liquid upto a height H, A small hole is made at the bottom of this tank Let t_(1) be the time taken to empty first half of the tank and t_(2) time taken to empty rest half of the tank then find (t_(1))/(t_(2))
