Write the formula for the maximum permis...

Write the formula for the maximum permissible speed of a vehicle moving on smooth circular balanced tracks.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The velocity of the vehicle on a circular balanced road is given by
`v_(max) = [rg ((mu_(s)+ tan theta)/(1-mu_(s) tan theta))]^(1/2)`
Here we have to take `mu_(s)= 0` as the surface is smooth
`v_(max) = [rg ((tan theta)/( 1))]^(1/2)`
At this speed friction force is not needed at all little wear and tear on the tyres `v_(o)` is called teh optimum speed
for `v lt v_(o)` frictional force will be upward and a vehicle can be parked on a slope only if tan `theta le mu_(s)`
