An aircraft executes a horizontal loop at a speed of 720 km/h with its wings banked at `15^(@)`. What is the radius of the loop

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Speed of aircraft `v= 720 km^(-1)`
`=(720 xx 1000)/( 3600)`
`=200 ms^(-1)`
Gravitational acceleration g= 9.8 `ms^(-2)`
When it takes turn.
tan `theta = (v^(2))/( rg )`
`r = (v^(2))/( g tan theta )`
`= ((200)^(2))/( 9.8 xx tan 15^(@)) = (4000)/( 9.8 xx 0.2679)`
` r = 15.24 km`
