A force acts on an object of mass 2 kg at rest, for 0.5 s. After the force stops acting, the object travels a distance of 5 m in 2 s. Hence the magnitude of the force will be …

A

5N

B

10 N

C

7.5 N

D

12.5 N

The correct Answer is:
B

Here velocity remains constant
`v= (d )/( t) = (5 )/(2 ) = 2.5 ms^(-1)`
Now initial velocity `v_(0) = 0 ms^(-1)` and force acts
on it
As per Newtons second law of motion
force F `=(Delta p )/( Delta t) = m(v-v_(0))/( Delta t )`
`= 2(2.5 - 0)/(0.5)`
`F= 10 N`
