Are the paths of electrons straight line...

Are the paths of electrons straight lines between successive collisions (with the positive ions of the metal) in the (i) absence of electric field, (ii) presence of electric field ?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

In the absence of external electric field, paths of free electrons between two successive collisions are straight but in the presence of external electric field, these paths are curved (or non linear) in general.
