Therefore are `6xx10^(19)` electrons per unit cubic metre of pure semiconductor. What will be the number of holes for this semiconductor of dimension `1 cm xx 1 cm xx 2 cm`?

Number density of electron `n_(e )=6xx10^(19)m^(-3)`
Volume `V=l xx b xx h`
`=1xx10^(-2)xx1 xx 10^(-2)xx2 xx 10^(-2)`
`therefore V=2xx10^(-6)m^(3)`
But in pure semiconductor number density of electron `n_(e )=` number density of hole
`n_(e )=n_(h)=6xx10^(19)`
Total holes in crystal is
`N=n_(h)V=6xx10^(19)xx2xx10^(-6)`
`therefore N=12xx10^(13)`
