Transpiration is for more than one purposes. It plays an important role in ascent of sap.
Due to transpiration turgidity of cells is maintained. Water is provided for photosynthesis in leaves by it. It gives coolness. So temperature is maintained in leaves. Due to transpiration mineral salts are absorbed from soil and transported to various parts of the plant. Thus transpiration is a necessary evil.
