Which diseases are caused due to deficiency of nutritive substances/nutrients ? Which are their symptoms ?

In many developing countries of south and south east Asia, west and middle Africa the deficiency of protein and total food is spread very much.
PEM (Protein - Energy - Malnutrition): It affects the population during dry drought, political unstability.
Marasmus and Kwashiorkor are seen in children.
(i) Marasmus : It occurs due to stimulated deficiency of protein and calory. It is seen in children below 1 year. It occurs due to intake of other insufficient nutritious food very early in place of mother.s milk.
Symptoms : Deficiency of proteins, weak growth, exchange of tissue protein, very weak body, limbs being thinner, skin dry, thin and wrinkled. A noticeable decrease is seen in growth rate and weight of the body. The growth and development of brain and parts of brain become weak.
(ii)Kwashiorkor : It occurs due to deficiency of calory or protein. It is caused to children above one year due to high calory in place of mother.s milk and food having less protein, symptoms are seen like - failure of muscles, limbs thinner, growth and development of brain becomes failure but some fats remain deposited under skin, swelling in some parts of the body.
