The digestion of carbohydrates begin from mouth, food mixes with saliva.
Which makes it soft and wet. Food components are converted into small pieces due to chewing. Some components of food are digested in oral cavity.
It contains salivary amylase. This enzyme converts starch into maltose, Iso maltose and `alpha`-dextrin. 30% starch of food is hydrolysed in mouth.
Starch `underset"Amylase"overset"Salivery"to` Maltose + Isomaltose + `prop` Dextrin
Saliva does not contain any enzyme for digestion of protein or fats so they are not digested in mouth.
In mouth, teeth are embedded in socket of bone.
This type of dental arrangement is called Thecodont.
Four types of teeth as per 2, 1, 2, 3 are arranged in half part of each jaw.
