Why is ester hydrolysis slow iin the beginning but is fast after sometime ?

In the hydrolysis of ester, carboxylic acid formed in the reaction acts as autocatalyst.
Thus the reaction is slow in the beginning and becomes faster after some time due to the formaation of acid which acts as catalyst.
