Write the order of intermolecular forces...

Write the order of intermolecular forces in neoprene, nylon 6 and PVC.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Increasing order of intermolecular forces is : `"neoprene"lt"polyvinylchloride"lt"nylon"6`. Neoprene rubber is cis-1,4-polychloroprene. It has very weak van der Waals forces.
Van der Waals forces are relatively stronger in polyvinylchloride, because of the presence of halogen atoms. Nylon 6 is a polyamide and hence van der Waals forces are even stronger.
