PTFE is polytetrafluoroethylene, also called teflon. It is a polyfluorocarbon. Mechanical strength of PTFE remains unchanged over a wide range of temperature.
Hence it is used in non stick cook ware. It is resistant to acids, bases, organic and inorganic substances. Hence it is used as corrosion resistant coating.
