How the colour of iron rod changes during the heating?

When an iron rod is heated in a furnace, it turns to dull red, more red, white and then becomes blue as the temperatureincrease.  It means that the frequency of emitted radiation goes from a lower frequency to higher frequencey as temperature increases.
