How iodoform is distinguished from chloroform?

Chloroform is a sweet smelling colourless liquid while iodoform is an yellow crystalline solid having a pungent characteristic small. Iodoform gives yellow precipitate with silver nitrate solution. Chloroform does not give precipitate with silver nitrate solution.
