(a) Dilute solution of NaCl and KCN is used for leaching of silver metal in the presence of air in the metallurgy of silver.
(b) Out of C and CO, Cois a better reducing agent at the lower temperature range because `DeltaG_((CO,CO_2))lt DeltaG_((Fe,FeO))`. So, CO will reduce FeO, will its self be oxidised to `CO_2`.

Following is used as a reducing agent in metallurgy i.e. extraction of metals in blast furnace.

Statement-1:In cyanide process for the extraction of gold and silver from their native ores, the cyanide solution acts as a reducing agent to reduce the gold and silver compounds present in the ores, into the metallic states. Statement-2:In the extraction of gold and silver the cyanide solution acts as complexing reagent in the presence of air and form their respective soluble complexes.

A white crystalline solid 'A' on boiling with caustic soda solution gives a gas 'B', which on passing through an alkaline solution of ptassium tetraiodomercurate (II) solution gives a brown ppt. the substance 'A' on heating eveolves a neutral gas 'C', which is inert at room temperature and reactive a presence of catalyst and does ont give grown fumes with nitric oxide. Q. The gas 'C' is:
