(i) To prevent the escape of the gases `(CO_(2))` released during germination the conical flask is kept airtight. (ii) KOH solution is kept in the small test tube. It is used to absorn carbon dioxide. (iii) Germinating, seeds release `CO_(2)` which is absorbed by KOH this creates a partial vacuum which caused the water in the delivery tube to rise.
