Acids are compounds, which give `H^(+)` ions in their aqueous solutions. Chemical Properties :
(i) Acids react with bases to form salt and water (Neutralisation reaction).
`HCl + NaOH rarr NaCl + H_(2)O`
(ii) Dilute acids react with metals to release `H_(2)` gas.
`Zn + 2HCl(aq) rarr ZnCl_(2)+ H_(2)`
