Find the equation of the circle which to...

Find the equation of the circle which touches the x-axis and whose center is (1, 2).

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The correct Answer is:
`x^(2)+y^(2)-2x-4y+1=0`

The center is (1,2) and since since the circle touches the x-axis , the radius is equal to 2.
Hence, the equation is
`(x-1)^(2)+(y-2)^(2)=2^(2)`
or `x^(2)+y^(2)-2x-4y+1=0`
