A battery of emf `2.0 V` and internal resistance `0.10 Omega` is being charged with a current of `5.0 A`. Find the potential difference between the terminals of the battery?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

As the battery is being charged, the current goes into the positive terminal as shown in figure.
The potential drop across the intermal resistance is
`5.0Axx0.10(Omega)=0.50V.`
Hence ,the potential dorp across the terminals will be
`2.0V+0.50V=2.5V.`
