Stratified epithelial cells have limited role in secretion. Justify their role in our skin.

Stratified epithelium : It has epithelium cells. Its bottom layer is made up of columnar or cuboidal cells. It is a type of com pound epithelium and its outer layer possesses water proof protein. It is called keratin. The layer of dead cells is called dead layer. During wear and tear it is removed at some distance. So th e ir fu nction is lim ited in absorption and secretion. The main function of stratified epithelium is protection of body against mechanical and chemical stress.
