Amphibolic Pathway is seen in respiration.

Glucose is the formed substance for respiration. Moreover in some cases lipid and proteins are also used as respiratory substrate. Lipid is broken down into fatty acid and glycerol. Fatty acid be degraded to acetyl CoA and glycerol gets converted into PGAL and enters respiratory pathway. But when the organisms need to synthesize fatty acids, acetyl CoA would be withdrawn form the respiratory pathway. Hence the respiratory pathway comes into picture both during breakdown and synthesis of fatty acid. Similarly in breaking down and synthesis of protein respiratory pathways are used. Hence anabolism and catabolism both are included in this pathway. So it is called amphibolic pathway.
