Energy is released during the oxidation ...

Energy is released during the oxidation of compounds in respiration. How is this energy stored and released as and when its needed ?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

In cells, energy rich compounds sugar, lipid and protein are like organic food because more energy is stored in their formation which connect them into their chemical bonds. Collection of stored energy and to release of cells are step by step processes of oxidation.
Food is broken down during oxidation process in which there is less energy in product than donor molecule. At this time electron acceptor substances absorb some energy which is lost during oxidation and its usage is done after that .Cells convert this energy into energy rich compounds like ATP during oxidation. It is used in metabolic process of cells and in forming new cells .
