Why is reproduction essential for organisms ? Describe its types.

Reproduction is a fundamental process which ensures the continuity of species generation after generation.
In the absence of reproduction, the species will not be able to exist and may soon become extinct.
Importance of reproduction : It creates variation necessary for evolution.
It maintains the continuity of speciecs.
Types of reproduction : Asexual - In this type of reproduction single parent is involved and there is no meiosis, hence no gamete formation.
Sexual - In this type two parents are involved, meiosis division results in gamete formation and also variation is produced.
