Male gametes and female gametes are always haploid. In haploid organisms, the gametes are formed by mitosis. Mitosis is acqational division. However in several organisms like Monera, Fungi, algae etc, the plant body is haploid in such caes meiosis occurs after fertilization to make organism haploid.
