Self fertilisation is a type of Autogamy in which anther of a flower receives pollen grain from the anther of the same flower. For autogamy both reproductive organs of chasmogamous flowers must mature at the sometime. Such chasmogamous flowers open at young age and pollen grains of released anther comes nearer for the process of self fertilisation. Both pollen grain and stigma because mature at the same age. In such flowers the length of anther and stigma play second part in autogamy. The second possibility of cross pollination increases when pollen matures early and anther matures early.
