Werner Heisenberg a German physicist in 1927 .
stated uncertainty principle.
Principle : it states that it is impossible to determine simultaneously the exact momentum (or velocity ) of an elecron .
Mathomatically it can be given as in equation .
`(Delta x ) xx (Delta p ) le (h)/( 4pi ) (equ .2,31) ` or `(Delta x ) xx Delta x xx Delta (mV x ) le (h )/( 4pi)`
where `Delta =` uncertainty in position of particle
`Delta p =` uncertainty in momentum of particle
Explaination : if the position of particle is electron will be uncertain is larger
To decide position of electron : in order to determine teh position of an electron we must than the dimensions of electrons
observe and electron we can illuminate it light used must have a wavelength smaller than the dimensions of an electrons.
the high momentum photons of such light `(p= (h)/(lambda))` would change the energy of electrons by collisions . in this process we no doubt would be able to calculate the position of the the velocity of the electron after the coillision .
Significance of uncertainty principle : one of the importan implications of the Heisenberg existence of definite paths or trajectories of electrons and other similar particles.
So for electron the uncertainty in position is less like `10^(8)` still uncertainly in velocity is `10^(-4) m^(2) s^(-1)`
it therefore means that the precise statements of the position and momentum of electrons have to be replaced by the statements of probability.
