The effect of uncertainty principle is s...

The effect of uncertainty principle is significant only for motion of microscopic particles and is negligible for the macroscopic particles. Justify the statement with the help of a suitable example.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The uncertainty principle is applied to an object of mass, say about a milligram `(10^(-6) kg)`, then
`triangle.triangle x =(h)/(4pim)`
`=0.52 xx10^(-28) m^(2)s^(-1)`
The value of `trianglev.trianglex` obtained is very small and is meaningless. Therefore, for milligram-sized or heavier objects, the associated uncertainties are negligible.

Three particles, each of the mass m are situated at the vertices of an equilateral triangle of side a . The only forces acting on the particles are their mutual gravitational forces. It is desired that each particle moves in a circle while maintaining the original mutual separation a . Find the initial velocity that should be given to each particle and also the time period of the circular motion. (F=(Gm_(1)m_(2))/(r^(2)))

Statement-I : Graph (1) represent one dimensional motion of a particle. While graph (2) can not represent 1-D motion of the particle. (here x is position and t is time) Statement-II : Particle can have only one position at an instant.

Velocity v//s Position graph of a particle performing curvilinear motion is as shown. Then select the CORRECT statement :
