(i) `CH_(3)CH_(2) - overset(overset(C_(2)H_(5))(|))(C )= CH-CH_(3) + HBr overset("Peroxide")rarr CH_(3)CH_(2)- overset(overset(C_(2)H_(5))(|))(CH)-overset(overset(Br)(|))(C )HCH_(3)`
This is anti-Markovnikoff addition
(ii) `CH_(3)CH_(2)- overset(overset(C_(2)H_(5))(|))(C )=CH-CH_(3) + HCl overset("Peroxide")rarr CH_(3)CH_(2)- underset(underset(Cl)(|))overset(overset(C_(2)H_(5))(|))(C )-CH_(2)CH_(3)`
This is Markovnikoff addition, since peroxide effect is not observed in HCl
