Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Paper and pulp were bleached earlier with chlorine gas or with bleaching powder. The gas or powder has pungent odour. During the process, the bleaching agent is reduced to harmful hydrogen chloride . Bleaching with hydrogen peroxide is preferred because , it is a mild and soft bleach. Both the belching agent and by-products are not pollutants.
