An underwater swimmer sends a sound signal to the surface. If it produces 5 bears per second when compared with the fundamental tone of a pipe of 20 cm length closed at one end, what is the wavelength of sound in water? `("Take" v_("water")=1500 m//s and v_("air")= 360 m//s)`

If f is the frequency of sound (which is independent of medium), according to given problem `f=f_(c)+-5`
But as `f_(c)=(v)/(4L)=(360)/(4xx0.2)=450Hz`
So`f=(450+-5)Hz :. lambda_(w)=(v_(w))/(f_(w))=(1500)/(450+-5)`
i.e, `lambda_(w)=3.30 m or 3.37 m`

Given that sound travels in air at 340 m/s, find the wavelegth of the waves in air produced by a 20 kHz sound source. If the same source is put in a water tank, what would be the wavelenght of the sound waves in water? Speed of sound in water = 1,480 m/s.

The wavelength of two notes in air are 40/195 m and 40/193 m . Each note produces 9 beats per second separately with third note of fixed frequency. The velocity of sound in air in m//s is

Two organ pipes of lengths 65cm and70 cm respectively , are sounded simultaneosly. How many beats per second will be produced between the fundamental of the two pipes ? ( Velocity of sound = 330 m //s )

A closed organ pipe 70 cm long is sounded .If the velocity of sound is 331m//s ,what is the fundamental frequency of vibration of the air column ?

A pipe of length 1.5m closed at one end is filled with a gas and it resonates in its fundamental with a tuning fork. Another pipe of the same length bur open at both ends is filled with air and it also resonates in its fundamental with the same tuning fork. Calculate the velocity of sound at 0^(@)C in the gas. Given that the velocity of sound in air is 360 m/s at 30^(@)C where the experiment is performed.
