(c) Magnifying power of a simple microscope is inversely proportional to the focal length of the lens. What then stops us from using a convex lens of smaller and smaller focal length and achieving greater and greater magnifying power?

The combination of lenses of small wavelengths is not easy. The more important is, if you decrease the focal length, then both defects will become stronger. Hence, in general magnifying power of simple convex lens is not possible more than 3. By system in which defect is solved this limit can be increased to 10 times or more than it.
