Phellogen is a meristematic tissue. While periderm is aq permanent tissue phellogen is produced from the cells of cortex. Sometimes forms cells of pericycle. These cells divide actively and produce phellem at the outer side and phelloderm or cells of cortex in the inner side. Thus periderm is produced from phellogen.
