A particle of mass 0.1 kg moving with an initial speed v collides with another particle of same mass kept at rest. If after collision total energy becomes 0.2 J, then the minimum and maximum values of .v. are

`therefore KE = 1/2 (2m) ((v ^(2))/( 4)) ,i.e., (0.2) =1/2 (0.2) ((v ^(2))/( 4)) implies v = 2 sqrt2 m//s`
In case of perfectly elastic collision, first particle stops and the second acquires the same velocity v
`KE =1/2 mv ^(2)i.e., 0.2 =1/2 (0.1) v ^(2) implies v =2 m//s`
Therefore, minimum values of v is 2m/s in casew of perfectly elastic collision and maximum vlaue of v is `2 sqrt2` m/s in case of perfectly inelastic collision.
