What happens to the image distance in the eye when we increase the distance of an object from the eye?

For a normal eye, the image distance (v) in the eye is fixed = distance of the retina from the eye lens When we increase the distance of the object (u) from the eye, the focal length of eye lens is changed on account of the accommodating power of the eye so as to keep the image distance (u) constant
according to the relation `(1)/(f)= (1)/(v)-(1)/(u)`
