BeO is more stable due to small size asnd strong polarizing power of `Be^(2+)`. As BeO is stable and `BeCO_(3)` is unstable. When it is kept in the atmosphere of `CO_(2)` a reversible process occurs and stability of `BeCO_(3)` increases.
