The correct Answer is:
A

The mass of water flow in one second from the pipe ` = m/t`
` :. M = m/l xxl/t`
= mass per unit `xx ` velocity
` :. M = m/l v`
Power means kinetic energy of flowing water ,
` :. "Power " P = 1/2 Mv^(2)`
` = 1/2 ((mv)/l)v^(2)`
`= 1/2 .(mv^(3))/l `
` = 1/2 xx100 xx(2)^(3)`
` [ :. m/l = 100 "kg/m"]`
= 400 W

A pebble is thrown vertically upwards from a bridge with an initial velocity of 4.9 m/s. It strikes the water after 2s. If acceleration due to gravity is 9.8 m//s^(2)(a) what is the height of the bridge? (b) with what velocity does that pebble strike the water?

Water is flowing through a horizontal pipe of irregular cross section . If the pressure at a point where the velocity is 0.2ms^(-1) is 30 mm Hg , what will be the pressure at a point where the velocity is 1.2ms^(-1) ? (Density of mercury =13.6gcm^(-3),g=1000cms^(-2) , Density of water =1gcm^(-3))

A cylindrical vessel of height 500mm has an orifice (small hole) at its bottom. The orifice is initially closed and water is filled in it up to height H. Now the top is completely sealed with a cap and the orifice at the bottom is opened. Some water comes out from the orifice and the water level in the vessel becomes steady with height of water column being 200mm. Find the fall in height(in mm) of water level due to opening of the orifice. [Take atmospheric pressure =1.0xx10^5N//m^2 , density of water=1000kg//m^3 and g=10m//s^2 . Neglect any effect of surface tension.]

One end of a horizontal pipe is closed with the help of a velve and the reading of a barometer attached in the pipe is 3xx10^(5) pascal When the value in the pipe is opened then the reading of barometer falls to 10^(5) pascal the velocity of water flowing through the pipe will be in m/s-
