To make a saturated solution, 36 g of sodium chloride is dissolved in 100 g of water at 293 K. Find its concentration at this temperature.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Mass of sodium chloride (solute) = 36 g
Mass of water (solvent) = 100 g
Mass of solution
= Mass of solute + Mass of solvent
= (36 + 100) g = 136 g
Concentration of solution at 293 K
= `("Mass of solute")/("Mass of solution")xx100`
= `36/136xx100~~26.47%`
The concentration of the solution at the given temperature is 26.47 %.

Calculate the molality of a solution containing 20g of sodium hydroxide (NaOH) in 250g of water ? .

For a silute solution conatining 2.5 g of a non-volatile non-electrolyte solute in 100g of water, the elevation in boiling point at 1 atm pressure is 2^(@)C . Assuming concentration of solute is much lower than the concentration (take K_(b) = 0.76 K kg mol^(-1))

Statement-I: If decimolal solution of sodium chloride boils at 101.2^(@)C , then decimolal solution of calcium chloride will also boil at the same temperature. Because Statement-II: For same molal concentration of aqueous solutions of electrolytes, the elevation of boiling point may not be same.
