(a) A solution contains 20 g of common salt in 160 g of water. Calculate the concentration in terms of mass percentage of the solution.
(b) Write dispersion medium and dispersed phase of fog (aerosol).

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Mass of common salt (solute) = 20 g
Mass of water (solvent) = 160 g
Mass of solution = Mass of solute + Mass of solvent
= (20 + 160)g
= 180 g
Concentration = `("Mass of solute")/("Mass of solution")xx100`
= `20/180xx100`
`~~11.1%`
(b) In fog, the dispersion medium is gas and the dispersed phase is liquid.
