If a room has dimensions 3m x 4m x 5m, what is the mass of air in the room if density of air at NTP is `1.3kg/m^(3)`

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

`m=rhoxxv=(1.3kg//m^(3))(3xx4xx5m^(3))=78 kg`
i.e. ,mass of air in the room is 78 kg which is unbelievable (as air is assumed to be weightless) but is true.

A room has dimensions 3m xx 4m xx 5m . A fly starting at one corner ends up at the diametrically opposite corner. The magnitude of the displacement of the fly is

Air is streaming past a horizontal aeroplane wing such that the speed of air is 120 m/s over the upper surface and 90 m/s at the lower surface, with respect to the plane. If the density of air is 1.3kg/ m^(3) , find the difference in pressure between the top and bottom of the wing. If the wing is 10m long and has an average width of 2m, calculate the gross lift of the wing.

In a test experiment on a model aeroplane in a wind tunnel, the flow speeds on the upper and lower surface of the wing are 70 ms^-1 and 63 ms^-1 respectively. What is the lift on the wing if its area is 2.5 m^2 ? Take the density of air to be 1.3 kg m^-3 .
