A particle performs uniform circular mot...

A particle performs uniform circular motion with an angular momentum L . If the frequency of particle's motion is doubled and its kinetic energy is halved , then find the new angular momentum in terms of L.

Text Solution

`E_(k) = (1)/(2) I omega^(2) = (1)/(2) (I omega) (2 pi epsilon)`
`E_(k) = pi epsilon L implies L = (E_(k))/(pi * epsilon)`
If `epsilon` is doubled and `E_(k)` is halved , then
`L. = ((E_(k) //2))/(pi (2epsilon)) = (1)/(4) ((E_(k))/(pi epsilon)) = (L)/(4)`
