Assertion : The electromagnetic wave is transverse in nature
Reason : Electromagnetic wave propagates parallel to the direction of electric and magnetic fields.

A

If both assertion and reason are true and reason is the correct explanation of assertion

B

If both assertion and reason are true but reason is not the correct explanation of assertion

C

If assertion is true but reason is false

D

If both assertion and reason are false

The correct Answer is:
C

The electromagnetic wave contains sinusoidally time varying electric and magnetic field which act perpendicualr to each other as well at right angle to the direction of propagation of waves, so electromagnetic waves are transverse in nature. Elecromagnetic wave propagate in the perpendicular direction to both fields.
