A plane electromagnetic wave travels in ...

A plane electromagnetic wave travels in vacuum along sz - direction. What can you say about the direction of its electric and magnetic field vectors? If the frequency of the wave is 30 MHz, what is its waelength?

As electromagnetic waves are transverse in nature, electromagnetic oscillations must be in x-y plane in a direction perpendicular to the direction of propagation of wave. In fact, vibrations of electric vector `vecE` take place along x - direction and that of magnetic vector `vecB` along y - direction. Here, frequency `v=30 MHz=30xx10^(6)Hz`
`therefore" Wavelength "lambda=(c)/(v)=(3xx10^(8))/(30xx10^(6))=10m.`
