State and explain the Joule.s law of heating.

The quantity of heat generated in a conductor when a current flows through it is (1) directly proportional to the square of current for a given resistance and the time-interval for which the current flows. (2) directly proportional to the resistance for a given current and time- interval. (3) directly proportional to the time for which the current flows through the resistor for a given resistance and current, Le., `H =i^2Rt`
This mathematical expression (equation) is called the Joule law of heating.
From the Joule.s law of heating it is clear that the heat (H) produced in a conductor due to electric current depends upon (1) the current (IJ (2) the resistance (R) of the conductor (3) the time (t) for which the current flows.
