An electric motor takes 5 A from a 220 V line. Determine the power of the motor and the energy consumed in 2 h.

Here , I = 5 A. V = 220 V,
t = 2 h = (2` xx 60 xx` 60) s = 7200 s
Power P = VI = 220 `xx` 5 = 1100W= 1100 J / s
Now,
Energy consumed W = Pt = 1100 J / s `xx` 7200 s
= 7920000J
`= 7.92 xx 10^6 J`
OR
Energy consumed W = Pt = 1100W `xx` 2 h
= 2200Wh
`=2.2 xx 10^3 Wh`
`= 2.2 kWh`
