Consider a circular loop of wire lying in the plane of the table . Let the current pass through the loop clockwise . Apply the Right-hand thumb rule to find out the direction of the magnetic field inside and outside the loop.

Using the Right - hand thumb rule , the direction of the magnetic field insdie and outside the cirular loop of wire carrying an electric current can be found . This is shown in the following figure .

The dotted magnetic field lines are perpendicular to the plane of the paper .
The front face of the loop behave as the south pole and the back face , i.e., the face touching the plane of the table behaves as the north pole .
