Experiments have shown that, when a current - carrying conductor is placed in a magnetic field , the force acting on the conductor is initially at rest ) is proportional toi…..
(a) the current in the conductor .
(b) the strength of the magnetic field .
(c) the lenght of the conductor .
(i) When the current in the rod AB is increased , the more force will act on the rod and hence the displacement of the rod will also be more ( in the same proportion.
(ii) If a stronger horse - shoe magnet is used then the strenght of mgnetic field will increases leading to a greater froce on the rod . Due to the greater force , the displacement of the rod will also be more ( in the same propotion).
(iii) If the lenght of the rod AB is increased, the more force will act on the rod and hence the displacement of the rod will also be more ( in the same proportion).

Figure shows a metal rod PQ resting on the smooth rails AB and positioned between the poles of a permanent magnet. The rails, the rod, and the magnetic field are in three mutual perpendicular directions. A galvanometer G connects the rails through a switch K. Length of the rod =15 cm, B =0.50 T, resistance of the closed loop containing the rod 9.0 m Omega . Assume the field to be uniform. (a) Suppose K is open and the rod is moved with a speed of 12 "cm s"^(-1) in the direction shown. Give the polarity and magnitude of the induced emf. (b) Is there an excess charge built up at the ends of the rods when K is open ? What if K is closed ? (c) With K open and the rod moving uniformly, there is no net force on the electrons in the rod PQ even though they do experience magnetic force due to the motion of the rod. Explain. (d) What is the retarding force on the rod when K is closed ? How much power is required (by an external agent) to keep the rod moving at the same speed (= 12 cm s^(-1) ) when K is closed ? How much power is required when K is open? (f)How much power is dissipated as heat in the closed circuit ? What is the source of this power ? (g) What is the induced emf in the moving rod if the magnetic field is parallel to the rails instead of being perpendicular ?

If we double the velocity of rod moving in uniform magnetic field, then induces emf will increase by how much time ?

(a) What happens if a bar magnet is cut into two pieces: (i) transverse to its length, (ii) along its length? (b) A magnetised needle in a uniform magnetic field experiences a torque but no net force. An iron nail near a bar magnet, however, experiences a force of attraction in addition to a torque. Why? (c) Must every magnetic configuration have a north pole and a south pole? What about the field due to a toroid? (d) Two identical looking iron bars A and B are given, one of which is definitely known to be magnetised. (We do not know which one.) How would one ascertain whether or not both are magnetised? If only one is magnetised, how does one ascertain which one? [Use nothing else but the bars A and B.)

A uniform thin rod AB of length L has linear mass density mu(x) = a + (bx)/(L) , where x is measured from A. If the CM of the rod lies at a distance of ((7)/(12)L) from A, then a and b are related as :_

An equilateral triangle ABC is formed by two copper rods AB and BC and one is aluminium rod which heated in such a way that temperature of each rod increases by DeltaT. Find change in the angle angleABC. (Coefficient of linear expansion for copper is alpha _(1). and for aluminium is alpha2 .).

In the network shown, R_(1) and R_(2) are unknown resistances, uniform rod AB is of length 1.0 m and resistance 1.0kOmega and A_(1) and A_(2) are ideal ammeters. The adjacent graph shows relation between current in the ammeter A_(1) and distance x of the jockey D from the end A. Based on the above information, mark CORRECT statements.

Three rods of equal length of same material are joined to form an equivalent triangle ABC as shown figure. Area of cross-section of rod AB is S of rod BC is 2S and that of AC is S , then {:(,"Column-I",,"Column-II"),((A),"Temperature of junction" B,(p),"Greater than" 50^(@)C),((B),"Heat current in" AB,(q),"Less than" 50^(@)C),((C),"Heat current in BC",(r),"Is equal to current in BC"),(,,(s),"Is " 2/3 "times heat current in AC"),(,,(t),"None"):}

A=[{:(5,-1),(6,7):}],B=[{:(2,1),(3,4):}]andC=[{:(1,3),(-1,4):}] then verify that (i) (A)=A (ii) (A+B)=A+B (iii) (3A)'=3A (iv) (AB)'=B'A'
